Let us introduce the Be Fair! Foundation below.
All us us must make decisions as producers and consumers. Free trade globalization has affected our planet by making it smaller, through interest-group and protectionism. Often the compassion of advanced countries lasts during world disasters by donating relief consignments. The problem is that afterward these countries have no comprehensive, conscious strategy for support. Developing countries have no need for assistance, but they do want a fair price for their goods, fair payment, and full .
We believe that Hungary belongs to the most developed and richest countries. This fact gives numerous possibilities, responsibilities and duties to inhabitants for the poor world.
The goal of the Be Fair! Foundation is to provide economical and social development of the South through popularizing and acquainting the Fair Trade movement in Hungary as well as promoting it, raising awareness, supporting ethical shopping and a lifestyle which shows alternatives to globalization.
The Foundation was established by young people who are committed to global change with responsibility.
The goals of the Foundation for long term public utility are being done by the concrete activities listed below:
- Public coverage and information,
- Webpage operation,
- Doing studies, research, translation,
- Organizing programs, presentations, conferences,
- Publishing,
- Maintaining local and international contacts,
- Educational activities,
- Protecting animals, nature, and the built environment
- Settlement developing activities (housing??)
- Protecting human rights (citizens, consumers)
The Foundation does not engage in any direct political activity, has separated itself from political parties, gives no support to them and gets no supporting from them.
The advisory board of the Be Fair! Foundation has made an activity plan for this year, which asserts its desire to move domestic responsibility to other civil organizations.
- Significantly raising Fair Trade among youth by participating in programs and conferences
- Series of program which would be held by discussion and presentation to encourage more activists
- Planning a memorable, strong campaign called “Fairtrade at work” to show that small things can change our enviroment.
- In autumn (around October) we will organize a „talking for sharing experiences” with people who have been Fair Trade producers somewhere in the world.
We think that the world can change by people who reject unfair steps of free trade which would make another view for them to clearly see what we have to do. We think that developing countries urgently need to provide human rights in multinational companies by keeping harsh enviromental rules. Standing up for Fair Trade can guarantee all the conditions of labour law.
